The following code 

```
PreparedStatement pstmt = con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO bytetable (id, b) VALUES (?,?)");
```
prints 

```
INSERT INTO bytetable (id, b) VALUES (?,?)

I'm guessing something else needs to be done to evoke this exception ?
```
