We are excited to announce the Cloudberry Database project has entered the =
Apache Incubator and is rebranded to Apache Cloudberry=E2=84=A2 (Incubating=
), continuing the legacy of open-source Greenplum Database with advanced Po=
stgreSQL-based analytics capabilities.

Cloudberry, created by the original developers of Greenplum Database, is an=
 advanced open-source Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) database. It evol=
ves from the open-source version of the Pivotal Greenplum Database=C2=AE bu=
t features a newer PostgreSQL kernel and more advanced enterprise capabilit=
ies. Cloudberry can serve as a data warehouse and can also be used for larg=
e-scale analytics and AI/ML workloads, positioning itself as the primary op=
en-source successor to open-source Greenplum.

This milestone addresses the challenges faced by the Greenplum Database fol=
lowing its transition to a closed-source model. By adopting Apache=E2=80=99=
s open governance model, Cloudberry aims to foster an inclusive developer c=
ommunity and drive innovation under the guidance of the Apache Way.
