The second example:
```
CREATE TABLE people (
id bigint GENERATED BY DEFAULT IDENTITY,
...,
);
```
is missing **AS**, correct version:
```
CREATE TABLE people (
id bigint GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY,
...,
);
```
... as per syntax here

GENERATED { ALWAYS | BY DEFAULT } AS IDENTITY [ ( sequence_options ) ] |
