Somehow, this results in duplicated tags on the https://www.postgresql.org/docs/ Found by tab-navigating https://www.postgresql.org/docs/16/rowtypes.html where we see (spacing added to avoid line wraps): ... create a domain over the composite type ... So, empty , and then the real . This resulted in stopping twice on the "domain" link (right before, and then on the "domain" word itself) while tab-navigating. If I am to "make html" docs from the source (in REL_13_STABLE..master), I see nested 's instead: create a domain over the composite type I guess docs are processed additionally before getting to https://www.postgresql.org/docs/ (html sanitizer/beautifier?), in passing fixing nested 's, but producing duplicated 's instead. It seems to affect all glossary links: after "make html", grep '' doc/src/sgml/html/*.html results in 254 to 329 matches (in versions 13 to master). REL_12_STABLE is not affected: glossary was only introduced in 13. It seems to have been introduced in commit 347d2b07fcc250680f75b5f89ba49d4805782c6b Author: Alvaro Herrera Date: Fri Apr 3 19:23:20 2020 Add a glossary to the documentation Not sure about how to fix this (don't really know docbook). -- Anton Voloshin Postgres Professional, The Russian Postgres Company https://postgrespro.ru From ewie@ewie.name Fri Apr 12 19:56:04 2024 Received: from malur.postgresql.org ([217.196.149.56]) by arkaria.postgresql.org with esmtps (TLS1.3) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1rvN0Z-00BZeV-9G for pgsql-docs@arkaria.postgresql.org; Fri, 12 Apr 2024 19:56:24 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=malur.postgresql.org) by malur.postgresql.org with esmtp (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1rvN0X-00HZK9-O7 for pgsql-docs@arkaria.postgresql.org; Fri, 12 Apr 2024 19:56:21 +0000 Received: from magus.postgresql.org ([2a02:c0:301:0:ffff::29]) by malur.postgresql.org with esmtps (TLS1.3) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1rvN0X-00HZK1-BC for pgsql-docs@lists.postgresql.org; Fri, 12 Apr 2024 19:56:21 +0000 Received: from mout-u-107.mailbox.org ([2001:67c:2050:101:465::107]) by magus.postgresql.org with esmtps (TLS1.3) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1rvN0P-000bPP-3k for pgsql-docs@lists.postgresql.org; Fri, 12 Apr 2024 19:56:20 +0000 Received: from smtp1.mailbox.org (smtp1.mailbox.org [10.196.197.1]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (No client certificate requested) by mout-u-107.mailbox.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VGS471hMJz9swb; Fri, 12 Apr 2024 21:56:07 +0200 (CEST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=ewie.name; s=MBO0001; t=1712951767; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=JznxLAFwCiWEXnBy+VefunNbmC0UHxBSfxg55F3ogTQ=; b=xaMkhC31A4cpdifwr4B+p0u7FqqEyWxrOGpc82oXrLUwkUcVV/SSmHsfiryWwFRYn1iCSn DioeNZjAaVJV2q5xF0u5xqOALK1zPazzfr+wxwBC5bqEwdQZBf1lfeCFLcQcQoyCX6vYXg pT5HbJBCmMX8Ck20WvncpgNvZ715FLVqv73PTKOziEJ5B3MEILQXXtXQo0WH0ZLX8IetjN GpjIqUoWIY61CLwBsTTfWdrV8on5rWb9m1neRmHeWocSxrpsHQB1TA5Z/g6D0YDp/Xlerk MUcb2UPJ1d0FuB8mlgQHlQZrGdKMYRdlup+FHQ5GxN4MxFcTVETzZjereQNF1w== Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2024 21:56:04 +0200 From: Erik Wienhold To: Anton Voloshin Cc: pgsql-docs , Alvaro Herrera Subject: Re: nested tags in glossary entries in html docs Message-ID: References: <03ac3556-d47a-4022-9ea8-a9219272ea43@postgrespro.ru> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <03ac3556-d47a-4022-9ea8-a9219272ea43@postgrespro.ru> List-Id: List-Help: List-Subscribe: List-Post: List-Owner: List-Archive: Archived-At: Precedence: bulk On 2024-04-12 18:29 +0200, Anton Voloshin wrote: > In REL_13_STABLE and above, generated HTML have a broken HTML: nested href="..."> tags for all links to glossary. Looks like the fix[2] landed in 1.79.2 (latest version on Arch, matching the latest snapshot on GitHub from 2020-06-03) because I can see the change in /usr/share/xml/docbook/xsl-stylesheets-1.79.2-nons/html/inline.xsl and /usr/share/xml/docbook/xsl-stylesheets-1.79.2-nons/xhtml/inline.xsl. But I still get those nested with a simple test: Test A B B Lorem ipsum… Generating the XHTML with xsltproc --nonet /usr/share/xml/docbook/xsl-stylesheets-1.79.2-nons/xhtml/docbook.xsl test.sgml | grep '' gives me B > Not sure about how to fix this (don't really know docbook). My XSLT skills are quite rusty, but maybe it's possible to omit the outer and just emit and its child in our stylesheets. If it does, that's a sign that forward-porting the speedup tweaks may be worthwhile. -- Álvaro Herrera PostgreSQL Developer — https://www.EnterpriseDB.com/ "On the other flipper, one wrong move and we're Fatal Exceptions" (T.U.X.: Term Unit X - http://www.thelinuxreview.com/TUX/) From exclusion@gmail.com Thu Apr 25 20:00:00 2024 Received: from malur.postgresql.org ([217.196.149.56]) by arkaria.postgresql.org with esmtps (TLS1.3) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1s05HO-000idT-2B for pgsql-docs@arkaria.postgresql.org; Thu, 25 Apr 2024 20:01:14 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=malur.postgresql.org) by malur.postgresql.org with esmtp (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1s05GM-002IXC-9T for pgsql-docs@arkaria.postgresql.org; Thu, 25 Apr 2024 20:00:11 +0000 Received: from makus.postgresql.org ([2001:4800:3e1:1::229]) by malur.postgresql.org with esmtps (TLS1.3) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1s05GL-002IX4-Tu for pgsql-docs@lists.postgresql.org; Thu, 25 Apr 2024 20:00:10 +0000 Received: from mail-lf1-x132.google.com ([2a00:1450:4864:20::132]) by makus.postgresql.org with esmtps (TLS1.3) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1s05GH-0001x2-M9 for pgsql-docs@lists.postgresql.org; Thu, 25 Apr 2024 20:00:09 +0000 Received: by mail-lf1-x132.google.com with SMTP id 2adb3069b0e04-51b2f105829so1796280e87.3 for ; Thu, 25 Apr 2024 13:00:05 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20230601; t=1714075203; x=1714680003; darn=lists.postgresql.org; h=in-reply-to:content-language:from:references:cc:to:subject :user-agent:mime-version:date:message-id:from:to:cc:subject:date :message-id:reply-to; bh=NrcfQ3Nt2s54RzXCc8+gql8yP4RrzGtcFv4epIqhggA=; b=e42iOUWR3oKD28oGFjNPCrAfl/C/eN6MTFvvTdwApLC2eBJfGlZMwEHR3NXwnBHDHA XXyRsXscxdUIGRERGL8cD+EQPUX5gT0rD5XgBUllh8sz3/t3khFJLWF75IudhkE2HyDC sjVuUYALlF6JEi/1+pZWIdCaCfEni0/ZwAI/pV2QpY/8gNCmNtFhMR0wYyxLNAu6dWy1 LeTDLnvIVmk+67Q1QKawAVkvcH52/oqQy9Lalzrwn2NrTGhucnVq36evx4Ka2NjRN5XD oJmrVgu5spHSujX70DOAm4tpyUuGrhC/lIxtiNgARKdiDYFIKwXoBOirlIeO1p/DjPE7 H0iA== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20230601; t=1714075203; x=1714680003; h=in-reply-to:content-language:from:references:cc:to:subject :user-agent:mime-version:date:message-id:x-gm-message-state:from:to :cc:subject:date:message-id:reply-to; bh=NrcfQ3Nt2s54RzXCc8+gql8yP4RrzGtcFv4epIqhggA=; b=OGskzpTDYdEfBsf8Xiq9BkQ1kcXyf7XJSTjc6DYpClb+yfKCzoQHsSJK2F6X6cQOqg sOK6h3vXGjFbKSNghWurtJdasYUfQ2urf6FaA4SDDQ7lbFfS3nHb7lCsUaqg5ORskz8N fAGGhme2lrXfWaDkjxlYXu5KDIvUsf7g7udw23W+YcnYIzuI1nbX7jb4Zi2s+yz4kHWt qBpQnHDiU33Cq0XujnuOU8EL64xhEUsrnN6fi6rZcizcTYFCH7/A2UW8nSuX5FeRQEbn AA+e2O8XdP9Po+FjdCd9LmI8gAfGt0RV2x7CyTKEns6HqmKHRIDrvl6bjEpClog2RVpC JdYA== X-Forwarded-Encrypted: i=1; AJvYcCVZ8kxY4cLrIxa7vUNo8bfnVMtqMLe1Idtdd0eesB9eDa6AhAlCxAC4L4HSk6XeCnRYjukp9XB3FB7s1bvg0h5sv1dpUj1XQeUyA18y2D8r X-Gm-Message-State: AOJu0YwyEQdPC5o3Ip/dPrAb6OyrmpN+ohfjFCev70AXJTcPV+TgY7vV OI/YzDr7N2Qydo+rjILjjtaUKmxFY/IQJuwkTqBGeN7/BRxV3cuf X-Google-Smtp-Source: AGHT+IHbUPL4BPrHPQr1KWfO4bqReu74P+vtVHlDBVGxhvxKu3uVcrWWg3mTZhBNjJZ7NQHlZHflRQ== X-Received: by 2002:a05:6512:3121:b0:518:9070:f2d6 with SMTP id p1-20020a056512312100b005189070f2d6mr312494lfd.8.1714075202668; Thu, 25 Apr 2024 13:00:02 -0700 (PDT) Received: from [1.0.0.7] ([91.185.79.74]) by smtp.gmail.com with ESMTPSA id f22-20020ac251b6000000b0051b78f2320asm1209642lfk.304.2024.04.25.13.00.01 (version=TLS1_3 cipher=TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 bits=128/128); Thu, 25 Apr 2024 13:00:02 -0700 (PDT) Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="------------DLyM2qkXjiyLI5MoZrGAWgP0" Message-ID: <672a27ae-0d77-2b28-62ea-83c9ccf2b424@gmail.com> Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2024 23:00:00 +0300 MIME-Version: 1.0 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/102.4.2 Subject: Re: nested tags in glossary entries in html docs To: Alvaro Herrera , Erik Wienhold Cc: Anton Voloshin , pgsql-docs References: <202404250924.wg5n655fdbar@alvherre.pgsql> From: Alexander Lakhin Content-Language: en-US In-Reply-To: <202404250924.wg5n655fdbar@alvherre.pgsql> List-Id: List-Help: List-Subscribe: List-Post: List-Owner: List-Archive: Archived-At: Precedence: bulk This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------DLyM2qkXjiyLI5MoZrGAWgP0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Hello, 25.04.2024 12:24, Alvaro Herrera wrote: > On 2024-Apr-12, Erik Wienhold wrote: > >> There's this bug[1] in the DocBook XSLT stylesheets. Please try the attached patch, which adds , borrowed from /usr/share/xml/docbook/stylesheet/ docbook-xsl/xhtml/inline.xsl (I have docbook-xsl 1.79.2 installed), to our local stylesheet-html-common.xsl. I applied the modification from [1] (in two places) and it looks like the nested issue is gone.
