This query didn't work as I was expecting. Any reasons
for that ?

SELECT TO_ASCII('ÁÉÍÓÚáéíóúªº°')

result -> 'AEIOUaeioua  '

I used psql, java and phpPgAdmin without success.

(PostgreSQL 7.4.2 encoding latin1)
