Uh, you can use those regular expressions any place you would use an
operator:
SELECT 'thomas' ~ '.*thomas.*';
?column?
----------
t
or in a where clause, e.g. WHERE col ~ 'ab.*c'. Not sure how we can
improve the docs here.
