Normally, you hit the Start button, Programs, then select the program you want to run. Once that one starts, you go back through and repeat the process for the next program. Well, here's a better way. Next time you need to launch more than one program from your Programs menu, hold down your SHIFT key while you click the program's icon. The application will launch, but you won't lose the Programs menu and have to start all over. **What can you do when you click the wrong link? Keep reading to find out. A: Clicked the wrong link huh? Don't you just hate that? You frantically try to get your mouse up to the Stop button before you end up at the wrong page, but you don't always make it. So, here are a few suggestions: If you've clicked the wrong link and still have that left mouse button pressed down, just drag your pointer off the link to a blank spot and release. No harm done. But what if you've already clicked the link and you're off to the wrong page? Is there any hope? Yup, just hit your Escape key. That will stop your browser in it's tracks—it's also a good way to stop an onslaught of pop up windows should you accidentally wander onto one of those kind of sites. And, of course, there's the "Back" button. ~ Steve === Today’s Tip === Show Control Panel in "My Computer" Sure it's easy to access the Control Panel from the Start menu, but what if you spend a lot of time in "My Computer"? Wouldn't it make life easier to have access to it there as well? Earlier versions of windows had the Control panel there, but XP doesn't, so if you have XP and want it there then keep reading. Double left-click "My Computer" to open. Go to Tools/Folder Options. Under the "View" tab check off "Show Control Panel in My Computer" then click OK. Now the Control Panel should show up, giving you easy access when needed. ~ David === Friday Funny === A Software Engineer, a Hardware Engineer and a Branch Manager were on their way to a meeting. They were driving down a steep mountain road when suddenly the brakes on their car failed. The car careened almost out of control down the road, bouncing off the crash barriers, until it miraculously ground to a halt scraping along the mountainside. The car's occupants, shaken but unhurt, now had a problem: they were stuck halfway down a mountain in a car with no brakes. What were they to do? "I know," said the Branch Manager, "Let's have a meeting, propose a Vision, formulate a Mission Statement, define some Goals, and by a process of Continuous Improvement find a solution to the Critical Problems, and we can be on our way." "No, no," said the Hardware Engineer, "That will take far too long, and besides, that method has never worked before. I've got my Swiss Army knife with me, and in no time at all I can strip down the car's braking system, isolate the fault, fix it, and we can be on our way." "Well," said the Software Engineer, "Before we do anything, I think we should push the car back up the road and see if it happens again." === Cool Site of the Day === Memorial Day I've brought you this site before, but I'd like to share it with you again. We just had Armed Forces Day in the US, now it's time for Memorial Day. Originally called Decoration Day, it is a day of remembrance for those who have fallen and dates back to the 1860's. On this site you can visit the History section and learn where, when, and how Memorial Day got started but that's just the beginning of what this site has to offer. You can also check out the Calendar section that tells you when prior memorial days were observed. Browse the Public Memorials and War Casualties Files by the full listings or by alphabetical categories. Send E-cards, Read Poetry and Prayers, MIA/POW, read about Grief and Healing, not to mention the sections dedicated to speeches, essays, presidential remarks, and much, much more. . There is also a section on How to Observe. It's Memorial Day—how should you be spending it? What can you do to honor the fallen? This section goes into detail on how we can celebrate this day for what it is meant to be and not just a three day weekend. I was surprised by some of the suggestions since they've never been done on Memorial Day in my family. There is so much more we could be doing other than simply hanging our flags out on Memorial Day. You can download a version of Taps to play, in four different formats. Spend a little time this Memorial Day, remembering those who died for freedom. http://www.usmemorialday.org/ === New Titles & Special Offers === Sorry, Nothing new today. === Monthly Wallpaper === May Calendar Wallpaper http://www.worldstart.com/month-wallpaper-calendar.htm?5 === Useful Links === Discount Software Page: http://store.worldstart.com/customer/home.php Computer Terms: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/computer-terms/index.htm Computer Tips: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/index.php Hard Hat Hosting: Need a home for your website?
