Its not a problem per se.
But I know it would make the life of Linux maintainers easier to keep
a split build.
Unless I'm missing something...

What is the purpose of such a build?
As a developer that needs just libpq I will just throw everything away,
but libpq.
So basically it's a waste of time...

IIRC, Debian was distributed on the floppies for a long time
But lets not compare apples and oranges.
