Could you please confirm if PostgreSQL 17 is available through the Po= stgreSQL APT repository for Ubuntu 22.04, or if there will be a delay in it= s availability? Additionally, if you have any other recommendations for ins= talling PostgreSQL 17 without compiling from source, such as through third-= party repositories or Docker, I would appreciate your guidance.

Hi
If the package is not available on repo then y= ou cant=C2=A0install it using it.
The other option is to compile = using code.
As far as PG17 is concerned=C2=A0then its Beta 3 is r= eleased, maybe someone else can guide on how to install it.

Hi Kashif,

Thank you for the in= structions. I followed the steps provided to set up the repository and inst= all PostgreSQL. Here are the= steps I followed:

Th= e repository seems to have installed the latest available version as Postgr= eSQL 16.4. Could you please advise if there is a different repository I sho= uld use for PostgreSQL 17, or if additional steps are needed to specificall= y target version 17?

So the last = version available is PG16, which means PG17 is still not there.
I= f you require PG17 beta for Testing purposes then you can install it from c= ode, which is available on following=C2=A0

Thank you for your as= sistance.

Hi=C2=A0= Jyoti

Make sure you have done the following repo setup

sudo apt install curl ca-certificates
sudo insta= ll -d /usr/share/postgresql-common/pgdg
sudo curl -o /usr/share/postgres= ql-common/pgdg/apt.postgresql.org.asc --fail https://www.postgresql.o= rg/media/keys/ACCC4CF8.asc

# Create the repository configuration= file:
sudo sh -c 'echo "deb [signed-by=3D/usr/share/postgresql= -common/pgdg/apt.postgresql.org.asc] https://apt.postgresql.org/pub/repos/apt $(lsb_release -cs)-pgdg main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pgdg.lis= t'

then execute the following command and it shd install the latest version = of PG in this case PG17.

Hi,

When I run the command sudo apt -y install postgresql-17, I= receive the following message:

Package postgresql-17 is not available, but is referred=

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obs=

Here=E2=80=99s what I=E2=80=99ve already tried:

=C2=A01. Updated the package list with sudo apt update.

=C2=A02. Verified that the PostgreSQL Apt Repository is add= ed correctly with=C2=A0

deb http://apt.postgresql.org/pub/repos/apt/ jammy-pgdg main.=C2=A0

3. Checked available packages = using apt-cache search postgresql-17.

=C2=A04. Despite t= hese steps, I=E2=80=99m unable to install PostgreSQL 17. Could you please a= dvise on how to resolve this issue or if there's something I might be m= issing?

Thank you in advance for your help!
