You're seriously suggesting that novice users (and by novice, we're talking about operating system users, not necessarily database users) should not be able to choose the version of PostgreSQL they run, because we cannot be bothered to simplify the installation instructions? This sort of attitude is *exactly* why PostgreSQL has a reputation for being hard to use and the community has a reputation for being exclusive and unwelcoming to newcomers. We should be doing everything we can to make it easy for new users, whatever their background or experience level, to use PostgreSQL as they wish. -- Dave Page Blog: http://pgsnake.blogspot.com Twitter: @pgsnake EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com The Enterprise PostgreSQL Company -- Sent via pgsql-pkg-debian mailing list (pgsql-pkg-debian@postgresql.org) To make changes to your subscription: http://www.postgresql.org/mailpref/pgsql-pkg-debian
