I want to install postgresql-server-8 under redhatlinux 32bit,like follows:
[root@localhost yarn]# rpm -ivh postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386.rpm

but it raise following error:
error: Failed dependencies:
 libcrypto.so.6 is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386
 libpq.so is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386
 libpq.so.5 is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386
 libreadline.so.5 is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386
 libssl.so.6 is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386
 libtermcap.so.2 is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386
 postgresql = 8.2.14 is needed by postgresql-server-8.2.14-1PGDG.rhel5.i386

I have installed openssl-0.9.8e.tar.gz,like follows:

[root@localhost lib]# cd /lib
[root@localhost lib]# ls libcrypt.*
libcrypt.so.1

[root@localhost lib]# cd /usr/lib
[root@localhost lib]# ls libcrypt.*
libcrypt.so
[root@localhost lib]# ls libssl.*
libssl.so.10 libssl.so.1.0.0

Where can I get the files of libcrypto.so.6,libpq.so ,libpq.so.5,libreadline.so.5,libssl.so.6,libtermcap.so.2 ? Would you send me these files by email?

Thanks.

First this is the wrong list for this sort of question. You should ask
on the Postgresql General list:

Second, 8.2 is well past its end of life:

http://www.postgresql.org/support/versioning/

8.2 8.2.23 No December 2006 December 2011

So, do really want to use it?

Check out the repo:

http://yum.postgresql.org/8.2/redhat/rhel-5-i386/repoview/postgresqldbserver.group.html

At a guess you will need the other packages:

postgresql - PostgreSQL client programs and libraries
postgresql-contrib - Contributed source and binaries distributed with
PostgreSQL
postgresql-libs - The shared libraries required for any PostgreSQL clients

To follow up, you might want to try the yum method, will probably be
better for dealing with the dependencies.

See below for more information:
