Have you tried:
SELECT id from items_tmp WHERE id=1261319 AND
xid=currval('xadmin_xid_seq'::text)
or even:
SELECT id from items_tmp WHERE id=1261319 AND
xid=currval(('xadmin_xid_seq'::text)::regclass)
