Be careful when working with backslashes and regular expressions for
the proper (double) escaping!

# select '70a5' ~ e'\\d+\.\\d+';
 ?column?
----------
 t
(1 row)

# select '70a5' ~ e'\\d+\\.\\d+';
 ?column?
----------
 f
(1 row)

# select '70.5' ~ e'\\d+\\.\\d+';
 ?column?
----------
 t
