I would like to submit a session for translators at the PGConf.dev 2026
conference in Vancouver (https://2026.pgconf.dev/). Specifically, I'm
thinking about submitting this under the Community Discussions / Working
Group category (see https://2026.pgconf.dev/cfp).

My idea is that we could have an hour slot to discuss various things
about how to improve the translations tooling, recruit translators, make
the whole thing efficient and sustainable, and things like that.

I would also consider setting up a remote conferencing link for the
event, but that is outside of the scope of this conference submission.

The conference CfP wants a list of invited attendees. (For the "working
group" category, everyone can attend. The invited attendees are listed
only to help scheduling.) To get started, I looked at everyone who has
committed to translations in the last 24 months:

     19 Alexander Lakhin
     55 Álvaro Herrera
     84 Dennis Björklund
      3 Euler Taveira
     39 Guillaume Lelarge
     31 Kyotaro Horiguchi
      6 Pavlo Golub
    238 Peter Eisentraut
      1 Sutou Kouhei
     66 Temuri Doghonadze

Please let me know:

- If you would like to be listed on this CfP submission as an essential
attendee, or
- If you definitely don't want to be listed.
- If you know of anyone else to list, maybe one of your collaborators
who is not usually committing.
- If you probably won't attend the conference but are interested in the
remote conferencing link.
- Any other ideas.

This does not commit you to attend the conference, it just helps the
program committee to not schedule this session against other sessions
that you might participate in.

The deadline for submissions is January 16th, 2026. By that date, I
will submit this with the information I have and list everyone else as
possible but unconfirmed attendee.

Thanks.

Great idea! I was thinking about something like this! Thanks for

I will attend but I think it's a good idea to have a link.

I’ve previously contributed to the PostgreSQL Chinese translation via
the redmine.postgresql.org platform (rather than through the mailing
list), so I’m very interested in the translators working group and
related discussions.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the conference onsite.
However, if allowed, I’d be happy to join remotely.

Look forward to participating if possible. BTW, I’m located in the
UTC+8 time zone.

Best,
Dianjin Wang

I think this is a great idea. I'd love to attend, though I'm definitely
not an essential attendee. The thing is, I won't attend the event. A
remote conferencing link would probably be a good idea, but don't spend
too much time on this. I would definitely be interested in a written
meeting notes (such as the one for the developer meeting) if it's possible.

Anyway, great idea. Hope it will work.

I'd actually be interested in participating in this one on the French
front, even if I am not an active committer in this set.

FYI, this has been submitted, and we are now awaiting the verdict of the
program committee.

This submission has been accepted by pgconf.dev.

There is no schedule yet, but these community sessions are supposed to
happen on Tuesday. So everyone interested (attending in person, or
possibly online) should make a note for the 19th of May 2026 for this.

For building the agenda, I think we can wait until early April or so.

I have created a wiki page for this now:
https://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/PGConf.dev_2026_Translators_and_Translation_Tooling

Please add yourself there if you plan to attend in person or remotely.
This is not required, but it will help the organizers. (In particular,
if no one signs up for remote attendance, there will be no remote link.)
Remote attendees, please take note of the time that this session is
scheduled for.

Also, if you have any topics you want to discuss, add them on the wiki
page as well.

Thanks, and see you there.

This meeting is in a week from today. A number of interesting topics
have been added to the wiki page, so feel free to study those to prepare.

Thanks.
