I can only presume it's some artifact of the cross-compile instead of  
direct compilation on Windows.

Good, I hope to release Windows binaries in the next few days.

Thoughts, yes.  I'll need to setup a 64 bit cross compiler and try it  
out.  I'll let you know how it goes.
