WWW guys:

I just received this from someone about Google archiving being
terminated. Seems amazing but I checked Google and it seems true.

Yeah, I noticed that last night --- they seem to have shut it off as of
the 16th or so. We should probably tell people about this on all the
mail lists and encourage complaints.

I can't believe either of those claims.

Where does one complain to, exactly?

Google is now archiving us again!

	http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&group=comp.databases.postgresql.hacke...

Notice the current dates and no mention of the archive being stopped.

Hi all

A German company wants (maybe) migrate to PostgreSQL and asked:

- is PostgreSQL classified? Does it have a ECCN (for example 5D002,
  5D992, etc.)??
- is PostgreSQL considered as EAR99 product
- are there any export restrictions for PostgreSQL?

Thanks in advance
Conni

Why would a German company care about U.S. export classifications?

They e-mailed me as well. I told them that
a) I had no reason to believe that PostgreSQL was considered a "US Product",
and
b) that they needed to talk to an attorney.

Well, I don't know what else we can do, but I have sent them a message
asking them to reconsider their decision. I guess the more people that
do the same, the more chance we have of getting it switched back on.
Perhaps Marc can fire a message at all appropriate groups?

I hope this isn't the start of them winding down the not-so-profittable
bits of Google...

Regards, Dave.
